What documentation is required to prove my identity? |
Regulations require that all solicitors obtain proof of identity from all new clients. We must obtain proof of who you are and your address. Before we can carry out any work on your behalf you will need to show us certain original documents and we will need to retain copies for our file. Evidence of Name We will need one of the following: Current signed passport Current UK full driving licence Current EEA photo driving licence Benefit book or Benefits Agency notification letter National Identity Card
Evidence of Address We will need one of the following: Current UK full driving licence Utility Bill dated within in the last 3 months (not a mobile telephone bill) Council Tax bill for the current year Inland Revenue statement or tax demand Current certificate of Insurance (house or motor) Bank/Building Society/Credit Union statememt (dated within the last 3 months) (0r passbook with current address) Recent mortgage statement from a recognised lender |
Can I get some free initial advice |
Depending on the type of case the answer is proibably yes. We are happy to see you free of charge for 20 to 30 mins, during which time we will advise you about costs and teh merits of your claim or case. We will be able to assess whether you are entitled to Public Funding assistance with fees (Legal Aid), and we can complete the application forms for you if you wish to proceed. If you are not entitled to Public Funding we will give you an estimate of our likely fees, explain whether there are any other forms of financing your case such as No Win No Fee, or Legal Expenses Insurance so that you can make an informed decision as to whether to proceed.
